I Am A Lot highlighted the ordinary. This project was a type installation in downtown Providence. I was drawn to the texture, layering of materials and quirky windows on this dilapidated wall. The typography acts as a closed-captioning of the abandoned lot, both literally and metaphorically describing the space. “I Am A Loss” references a 2006 fire that destroyed a restaurant as well as the historic building it occupied. The personification invites an audience to consider their relationship to the history of the space in an unexpected way.
